Cristina Greco earned a PhD with scholarship in Communication Sciences with a thesis in Semiotics of Culture at the Department of Communication and Social Research, Media Trends Doctoral School, Sapienza University of Rome (Italy). After completing her PhD with an Erasmus scholarship at the Catholic University of Louvain-La-Neuve (Belgium), she has taught Semiotics, Research Methodologies and Advertising theories. She was vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Head of the Research Unit at the Jeddah College of Advertising, University of Business and Technology (KSA). She was Visiting Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain) for the Máster Universitario en Producción Artística, Facultad de Bellas Artes, and at the University of Gent (Belgium) for the Department of Literary studies, with lectures on visual studies, urban art and comics. She also has taught Ethnographic Analysis, seminars and workshops, at the Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), and Semiotics of Design at the University of Chieti-Pescara (Italy). Her research interests include semiotics of culture, media and communication studies, visual culture, city identity and urban life, intelligent media and digital humanities with a focus on the theories of collective memory and cultural identity. Her last articles include: "Beyond the Myth: The Perfection of Being an Imperfect Mother in Contemporary Advertising" (LEXIA 2023); “Food Heritage, Memory and Cultural Identity in Saudi Arabia: The Case of Jeddah” (Springer, 2021); Her first and second monographs are: "Graphic Novel: Confini e forme inedite nel sistema attuale dei generi" (2014); "Con la china in testa. Fumetto e memoria culturale per una lettura di Maus e Palestina" (2009).
