Bio
Rochelle Odendaal Williams, is an Instructor in the College of Interdisciplinary Studies at Zayed University. Previously she was an Instructor of Digital Design and Communication in the College of Communications and Media Sciences at Zayed University. She has also taught at The Pennsylvania State University in the United States and Hong Kong Baptist University in Hong Kong.
Rochelle has published research on media use and effects in Southern Africa. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and an Honors degree in Journalism from the University of Johannesburg in South Africa. She earned a Master’s in International Journalism from Baylor University, Waco, Texas.
Rochelle also brings to this position expertise in developmental and educational psychology. She has designed and implemented a pre-school curriculum that gives children a strong foundation for future linguistic, kinesthetic and mathematical development. Rochelle has taught this program in the U.S., Hong Kong and here in Abu Dhabi.
Rochelle has published The Hungry Camel, her first children’s book. This book incorporates her knowledge of children, cognitive development, visual design and language acquisition. The content of the book is appropriately set in the UAE and builds English reading and comprehension skills in young readers. The book is supported by an activities and game supplement to help parents engage their early readers.
Rochelle is a freelance designer who has worked for various agencies and organizations in the UAE, South-Africa, and Hong Kong.
