Introduction

After graduating from Zayed University with a B.Sc. in Finance, I worked for almost one year as risk management associate at AlHabtoor Group – private sector. Then, I worked at Zayed University as leadership coordinator from Sep 2014 – Aug 2017 before joining the college of humanities and social sciences as an academic advisor from Aug 2017- present.

Roles and Responsibilities

Risk Management Associate:

  • Reviewed the "Risk Engineering Services" reports written by a loss adjuster (third party) for Alhabtoor Motors top 5 locations & did a comparison regarding the pending/implemented recommendations
  • Followed up with Alhabtoor group business units on the status of risk improvement recommendations & updated the group risk management office about the status of implementation
  • Worked on the risk assessment study regarding Alhabtoor Motors location expansion in DIC.

Leadership coordinator:

  • Organized a wide range of   skill   building workshops and certified programs for students
  • Organized leadership events, conferences and forums
  • Worked as an advisor for the student council (September 2016-Dec 2016) and was a member in the selection committee
  • Organized entrepreneurship workshops and events for students in collaboration with Dubai SME
  • Served as a board member of the leadership task force (2016-2017)

Academic Advisor:

  •  One point of contact for the students to support with their retention, graduation rate, academic success and overall satisfaction at the University.
  • Examine academic progress of students
  • Communicate and advise students about other support available to the student at the university, such as the PALS, Alwaha Zone , Counselling center and accessibility center .
  • Identify current and potential needs or problem areas (i.e. study plan, academic issues...) and refer students to the respective person.
  • Work towards student’s retention and graduation improvements
  • Liaison with different units and departments to ensure students-at-risk are able to receive the support they need
  • Work closely with the college to provide accurate information on course offerings
  • Provide guidance in the student’s selection of courses to be sure that degree requirements will be met
  • Maintain student files and records; documents all related student information; updates the system regarding changes to student status.
  • Participate in preparation of orientations and presents academic information to new students 
  • Work closely with registrar office to advice students.
