Bio

Dr. Jason Johnson is from Buffalo, New York (USA). He has experience teaching mathematics at the elementary, middle grades, and secondary levels in Orlando, Florida (USA). After completing his doctorate, he was a faculty member at Middle Tennessee State University (USA), where he was promoted to Associate Professor and tenured. Dr. Jason joined Zayed University in Fall 2011 in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, where he taught general education mathematics and mathematics for prospective teachers. Dr. Jason was later commissioned by Zayed University to join the College of Education in Fall 2017. Dr. Jason now teaches prospective teachers mathematics content, pedagogy courses, and supervises interns.

Research interests are ethnomathematics, teaching mathematics for social justice, and effective use of technology. Additionally, he is interested in assessment, curriculum, and pre-service teacher content knowledge as they relate to the teaching and learning of mathematics.
