Introduction
After receiving my Ph.D. in political science from Cairo University, I worked as Lecturer, then Assistant Professor at Cairo University. In 2001, I was promoted to Professor rank. Between 1994 - 2005, I worked as an advisor and chair of the Department of Planning & Studies, Ministry of Interior, United Arab Emirates. In 2005, I joined to Zayed University. My research interests include: gulf affairs, civil society, democratization, political violence, terrorism and Islamic movements in the Arab world. I’m an author and editor of tens of books, book chapters, monographs, and journal articles in both Arabic and English. Also, I have presented tens of papers in regional and international conferences. I have been received many awards, including: The first Award in Human Studies, granted by Dr. Suad al-Sabbah’s Competition for Arab Youth (1992), the Egyptian State Award in Political Science (2006), The First Arab Award in Social Sciences and Humanities (2011-2012).
