Introduction

I am a cultural historian with an interdisciplinary background in socio-cultural anthropology, media and area studies. My research explores the connections between cultural performance, race, memory, and nation-making in the Andes, with a focus on applied cultural research. Research and Professional Activities

Main research strands:

  • Crisis and Political Conflict in Bolivia
  • Latin American Ritual and Performance
  • Imaginaries of the Future in the Andes and Bolivian Amazon
  • Transdisciplinary Practice and Non-literary Ways-of-Knowing

My most recent publications analyse indigenous identity politics and public performance participation, and the intersection between race and ‘long’ and ‘short’ Bolivian political histories.

My transdisciplinary practice includes community-engaged research on orality and performance as tools for social cohesion, cultural visibility, and collective memory. This includes collaborations with scholars and community leaders across Latin America, the UK, and the UAE.  Key outputs include films, exhibitions, festivals, performances, public lectures, and design outputs.
