Introduction

 

After graduating from University of Pittsburgh, USA with a PhD in Sociology in 1987, I moved to Singapore where I taught at several institutions including the Department of Sociology, at National University of Singapore from 1988 onwards. I was also involved in a number of NGOs in Singapore. I split my time between teaching and doing social work as a volunteer. I joined Zayed University in Spring 2007 teaching in the then Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Member of AWARE (Association of Women for Action and Research) Singapore

Coordinator of NAW (Network of Asian Women) an NGO operating from Singapore

Member of Executive Committee and Board of Directors of Shuchona Foundation, Bangladesh. Shuchona Foundation is a not-for-profit advocacy, research and capacity-building organization specializing in neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) and mental health.

Ongoing research on comparative study of Foreign Domestic Workers in ASEAN countries
