Introduction
Dr. Benbourenane earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from Northern Illinois University and holds an MIA from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, USA. With over two decades of experience, she served as a diplomat at Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, specializing in economic and political relations. Her roles included Minister-Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Thai Embassy in Muscat, Oman. She was an American Political Science Association Congressional Fellow at the US House of Membership: Benbourenane is a member of the Association for Asian Studies.

At Zayed University, Dr. Benbourenane instructs courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Her research focuses on foreign policy, international political economy, and ethnoreligious conflict, particularly in Asia and Thailand. Noteworthy book publications include Political Integration Policies of the Thai Government towards Malay-Muslims of Southernmost Thailand and Cambodia: Thai Foreign Policy under the Prem Tinsulanond’s Government, which received recognition from Thailand’s Research Fund. She is a member of the Association for Asian Studies. During her free time, she finds pleasure in traveling and indulging in reading.
