Introduction to the Special Issue of JIWS: Activism, Solidarity, and Diversity: Feminist Movements Towards Global Sisterhood

This is the introductory article to the Journal of International Women’s Studies that published a special issue featuring articles from the prceedings of The 5th, World Conference on Women’s Studies that was held in Bangkok, Thailand, April 25-27, 2019. The article written by Dr.Omnia Amin, is about feminist movements working towards global sisterhood. It outlines the voices of women in this edidtion and through the ages who dedicated their lives to fighting for liberty, dignity, freedom, equality and justice for themselves and their people. In specific, the article deals with the activism of Dr Nawal El Saadawi as she gathers acitvists and feminists under her umbrealla showing that  “Solidarity between women can be a powerful force of change and can influence future development in ways favorable not only to women but also to men” as she puts it.
