Honour Crimes in Arabic Literature
08 Mar 2017Professor Omnia Amin gave a lecture in our 'Lecture series' in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday 8th of March, 2017
1- The presentation of her title: Honour Crimes in Arabic Literature
2- Short description of her presentation:
This paper shows how literature reflects the socio-political tension as well as the moral and intellectual dilemmas that Arab societies are passing through in modern times. By looking at honour crimes in literature we get to distinguish between two phases of writing among modern and contemporary authors. Each phase is connected to the political, economic as well as cultural changes of its time and environment. Literature becomes a tool to, not only reflect current state of affairs, but also opens a dimension for change and receptivity of new ways of being.
