Dean’s Welcome

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the College of Education at Zayed University.  The College of Education has a long-standing commitment to excellence in teaching, community engagement, and innovation in scholarship.

The Education Studies Department enables positive transformation by preparing graduates who have developed critical thinking and research skills and are who committed to inspiring, encouraging, and empowering future generations. Our undergraduate and graduate programs are benchmarked with international standards yet remain focused on preserving and advancing Emirati national identity and language and nurturing the traditional values of the UAE.

Faculty members come together in the College of Education from 26 different countries creating a rich and varied learning environment. They collaborate with one another, teach, develop curriculum, offer professional development, engage in research and scholarship, and support their local and professional communities.

As the first teacher preparation program outside the United States to receive accreditation through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE/CAEP), the College of Education is distinguished by its strong undergraduate and graduate programs and established connections with federal institutions, community partners, and international centers of excellence. In addition, the college is accredited locally through the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) and internationally as part of Zayed University’s Middle States accreditation.

The College of Education is also proud to house the Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC), with a branch on each campus. The ECLC is an on-campus laboratory school that provides high-quality early learning experiences for children and their families, as well as valuable learning experiences for our teacher candidates in a best practice setting. We are also proud to have initiated the Arabic Language Center for Research & Development (ALCRD) whose mandate is to elevate the profile of Arabic language education in the region not only through research efforts, but also through the development of tools and resources to modernize Arabic teaching.

Graduates from our programs are successful change agents and leaders who are shaping the future of education in the UAE while helping to realize H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s vision. Our graduates are teachers, principals, policy makers, and ministry personnel.  At the College of Education, we take pride that our graduates not only make a difference in their communities, but rather THEY ARE THE DIFFERENCE.

I invite you to browse our website and newsletters for more information about our faculty, programs, and students’ extra-curricular engagement.
