College of Communication and Media Sciences

Dean’s Message

I would like to welcome you on behalf of the faculty, staff and students of the College of Communication and Media Sciences (CCMS). We are a professionally-oriented program accredited internationally by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC) and the International Advertising Association (IAA) and nationally by the UAE Ministry of Education’s Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA).

Our goal is to prepare our students for national and international careers in public relations, advertising, marketing, integrated strategic communication, tourism, media production, radio, television, multimedia, storytelling and cultural communication. Our students are highly competitive globally as they graduate with bilingual skills in English and Arabic writing. The CCMS Honor Societies on each campus provide opportunities for students to be involved with the community, the University and the College in special events and service.

Our graduates earn a Bachelor of Science degree in one of the three following concentrations: Integrated Strategic Communications, Media Production and Storytelling or Tourism and Cultural Communications. We also offer a joint degree program, a Bachelor of Science degree in Multimedia Design in partnership with the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises and the College of Technological Innovation.

Our master’s program (MA in Communications) features concentrations in either Strategic Public Relations or Tourism and Cultural Communication. They culminate with research linked to a graduate student’s current workplace or career development goals. Our graduate courses focus on professional development so that our graduates can move into strategic management and executive roles in both the public and private sectors.

Our faculty represent 18 nationalities and are committed to scholarly research, creative and professional output and practice. They embrace new technologies and innovation. They oversee our students’ work in ZUMEFF (Zayed University Middle East Film Festival), GlobCom, an international student competition project that involves 15 universities from 15 countries on five continents, MEPRA (Middle East Public Relations Association) Student Chapters, SPJ (Society of Professional Journalists) Student Chapters and Zajel, media storytelling by Zayed University students, which is online in Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.

Our alumni serve the country and the world. Graduates from both campuses currently work in many sectors of the government/semi-government and private companies such as media, health care, energy, corporate public relations, tourism and sports. In preparing students for their careers, we ensure they consider the vision and strategic goals of their home country.

We look forward to welcoming you to the College of Communication and Media Sciences. Should you need any further information please do not hesitate to contact us.
