Biography
Dr. Valerie Priscilla Goby, PhD, SFHEA, is a professor on the Dubai campus of the College of Communication and Media Sciences, UAE. Before joining Zayed University 14 years ago, she taught at universities in Singapore, Cyprus, Australia, Ireland, Brunei, Samoa, South Africa, and as an invited visiting professor at the University of Bari, Italy.
She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and an editorial board member of Journal of Business and Technical Communication and Business and Professional Communication Quarterly. She has received various awards for academic and research excellence such as a Commonwealth Postgraduate Scholarship for doctoral studies in Australia and the outstanding article of the year award by Business and Professional Communication Quarterly, 2017. She is accredited by Australian Psychologists Press to administer MBTI (1998) and as Competent Toastmaster - Communication and Leadership Program (2000).
Dr. Goby has published across a range of disciplines including business ethics, leadership, cross-cultural communication, gender studies, and CSR in journals such as Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Consumer Marketing, Leadership and Organisation Development, Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking, the Journal of Small Business Management, Globalisation, Societies and Education, and
Women’s Studies International Forum. She has been in academia her entire professional life and has supervised many masters and PhD dissertations. She has acted as consultant for the Ministry of Labor in Ireland and for various industrial sectors in Singapore.
