Biography
Paolo Mura is Professor in Tourism in the College of Communication and Media Sciences, Zayed University, UAE. Previously, he was Associate Professor and Head of the Centre for Research and Innovation in Tourism, Hospitality & Food Studies (CRiT) at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Leisure Management, Taylor’s University, Malaysia.
His area of research explores tourist experiences and behaviour, including gendered experiences and representations in tourism, travelling subcultures, expressions of art in tourism, and tourism critical and qualitative approaches to research. His work has been published in journals such as Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, Current Issues in Tourism, Tourism Geographies, Journal of Tourism and Cultural Change, Tourism Recreation Research, and Tourism Management Perspectives. His work on spirituality and tourism won the Best Paper Award at the CAUTHE 2014 Conference hosted by the University of Queensland. In 2015 Paolo won the Excellence in Research & Innovation, President’s Award at Taylor’s University, Malaysia.
Paolo serves as Editor of the ATNA Journal of Tourism Studies, is on the editorial board of Current Issues in Tourism, Tourism Management Perspectives, Tourism Recreation Research, Journal of Vacation Marketing and is the co-editor for a book series entitled Perspectives on Asian Tourism published by Springer. Paolo enjoys supervising postgraduate students and he has supervised to completion 8 PhD students and more than 20 master’s students.
