Elsayed Darwish serves as professor and chair at the College of Communication and Media Sciences at Zayed University in Dubai. His academic and administrative experience at ZU includes serving as director of the Arabic language institute, Co-Chair of Arabic language & media department and coordinator of Arabic media courses. Before joining Zayed University, he was the head of mass communication department at Sharjah University. He has more than three decades of experience in the journalism field as a teacher, scholar, and trainer. He teaches media storytelling I, media storytelling II, Public speaking, media translation courses, etc. Elsayed has organized several workshops for journalists about online media, infographics, media ethics, news writing, social media, etc. He has served as a judge at the Arab Media Awards, Sharjah Educational Award and others. Elsayed has written and presented several papers on issues of online media, media ethics, new trends in journalism studies, social media and mobile journalism. His works appear in Journalism Journal, Journal of Arab Media and Research, Egyptian Journal of Communication, and Arab and Media Society. He is a member of the Worlds of Journalism Project and several media associations. He published many books about media ethics, online journalism, journalism studies, news sociology, and media translation. Dr. Elsayed won the Award of the best Ph.D. in journalism in the Arab World in 1996, the Scientific Research Award from Sharjah University and ZU Outstanding Award for Research in 2019. He earned his Ph.D. degree from Cairo University, under a joint supervision with Ohio University.
