Professor Azza Ahmed has been a Mass Communication professor at Zayed University since 2018. Previously, she served as a media professor and Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Abu Dhabi University, Al Ain campus, and as an associate professor at UAE University. She also retains her position as a professor at the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University in Egypt.

Dr. Azza received the Khalifa Award for Education in the category of Distinguished University Professor in Teaching at the UAE and the Arab world levels in 2016. She has also been awarded the Distinguished Professor Award from Abu Dhabi University for several consecutive years and the Distinguished Service Award from UAE University.

Dr. Azza has participated in prestigious international conferences held by media organizations in the UK, USA, Bahrain, Singapore, Canada, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, China, Sweden, Dubai, and other locations.

She has received several research awards from conferences held at universities in the USA, Morocco, and Paris.

Dr. Azza has been an active member of the Arab-US Association for Communication Educators (AUSACE) since 2006, where she served as Vice President from 2014 to 2017. She was the Arabic editor for the Middle East Media Journal from 2005 to 2016. She is also a member of the editorial board for several international academic journals, including Arab Media and Society and the Journal of Middle East Media.

Dr. Azza also serves as a reviewer for several international academic journals, including Journalism and Mass Communication, Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media, TV and New Media, New Media and Society, Journal of Social Sciences, and ICA conferences. She is a senior reviewer in international conferences such as IAFOR, AUSACE, AEJMC, and ICA.

Her research has been published in prominent academic journals, including Arab Media and Society Journal, Cross-Cultural Communication, International E-Politics Journal, International Journal of Interactive Communication Systems and Technologies, International Journal of Media Watch, Contemporary Journal of Media Studies, and Journal of Creative Communication.

Dr. Azza's research interests revolve around studying the impacts of new media, binge-watching across electronic platforms, news sharing through social media, news credibility and its effects, television drama, and more.
