Russell B. Williams is Associate Professor and Chair of the College of Communication and Media Sciences, Zayed University. He has been a part of the college for more than nine years.

Dr. Williams has previously taught at Hong Kong Baptist University, The Pennsylvania State University and Baylor University. He worked as a photographer and story producer for local television news programs in Nebraska, Texas and Oklahoma before returning to University to complete his Ph.D. He continues to consult on media design and production, branding communication and designs games, developing more than 20 prototypes of board games, card games and Augmented Reality games. He holds a U.S. patent for game design and method of play. Dr. Williams has published articles in Computers and Human Behavior, Information Technology and Tourism, Entertainment Computing, Tourism Management Perspectives, Young Consumers and the Journal of Mass Media Ethics. He has two book chapters on the Gamification of Tourism and acts as a reviewer for tourism, computer and communication journals. He has presented papers at conferences in Africa, Asia, Europe and North America and has had top conference awards at international gatherings, including the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and International Communication Association.

Dr. Williams was awarded the Zayed University Outstanding Faculty Award for Teaching in 2018. He has taught across the communication curriculum and served in a variety of administrative roles.
