Noela Michael, Assistant Professor

Noela Michael holds a Ph.D. from La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. Her undergraduate degree is in Psychology and Sociology and her Post Graduate qualification is in Tourism Management and Marketing Management.

Noela’s professional career began in the tourism industry, she was the Global Manager for Product Development with Kuoni Travel. Her academic career started in Australia where she taught at Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT), Box Hill Institute and La Trobe University. At La Trobe University she was the Head of Department Tourism and Hospitality (TAFE), while in this position Noela was also in charge of the programs delivered in Malaysia and Singapore.

Also at La Trobe University, she developed and delivered the first online Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training Course. Since moving to Dubai she worked as a Corporate Trainer for Emirates Airlines, and then moved to Heriot Watt University (Dubai) and lectured in Consumer Behaviour, Marketing Strategy and Research Methods. Noela has experience in program coordination, curriculum development and supervising internship programs.

Her PhD dissertation title was “Understanding Tourist Motivations: Emirati Leisure Travel to Australia.” Her main research interest areas are Tourist Motivation, Film-Induced Tourism and Destination Marketing.

She is on the committee of the Academy of International Business Middle East North Africa (AIB - MENA), where she is the Intern Manager.
