Nagwa Fahmy, PhD., Cairo University, is an Associate Professor at the College of Communication and Media Sciences at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi. She received her Ph.D. in Journalism and Communication Science from Cairo University in 1993. Prior to joining Zayed University, she was an Associate Professor and coordinator of Communication College, Sharjah University in Khorfakkan and Kalba Campuses. In addition, she is also a Professor of Journalism at the Mass Communication Department, Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University, Egypt since 2007.

Nagwa has written and presented several papers on issues of Online Journalism, New Media, Mobile Communication, News verification, Media Ethics and Children and Media. Her research also focuses on Data Journalism in the Arab World. Her works appear in Journal of Middle East Media, Egyptian Journal of Mass Communication Research. Egyptian Journal of Public Opinion Research, Arabian Journal for Mass Communication, Journalism Practice. Currently, she is a reviewer for Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, International Journal of Communication, Journal of Middle East Media.

Nagwa received the award of Best Arabic Paper from the Arab-U.S. Association for Communication Educators (AUSACE) in 2011 and 2015. Nagwa received a grant from the Media Diversity Institute (MDI) for developing Media Reporting Diversity Curricula in 2009. She received a research grant in 2018 from Zayed University.
