Biography
Mohammad M. Alazaizeh is an Associate Professor in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management at the College of Communication and Media Sciences, Zayed University, UAE. Before joining Zayed University, Dr. Alazaizeh worked as an Associate Professor at the Department of Tourism Management, University of Jordan. He received his Doctorate degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management from Clemson University in 2014.
Dr. Alazaizeh uses interdisciplinary research methods to study and address tourism sites development, planning and management issues. His research provides information to help scientists, site managers, and tourism professionals manage visitors and their experiences. Recent research has focused on understanding tour guide performance in enhancing visitor environmental behavior, tourists’ experience and satisfaction at World Heritage Sites, crowding and carrying capacity in heritage sites, and value orientations and heritage tourism management. His research has been published in top-tier journals such as Journal of Tourism Management, Journal of Heritage Tourism, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, Tourism Recreation Research, and Journal of Tourism and Cultural Change. His research on tourism stakeholders' value perceptions toward Petra World Heritage Site won the Best Paper Award at the 8th International Conference on Tourism (ICOT2018).
Dr. Alazaizeh serves as a Social Media Editor of the Journal of Qualitative Research in Tourism and Editorial Review Board - Associate Editor in Journal of Park and Recreation Administration. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Heritage Tourism, International Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Studies and Ottoman: Journal of Tourism and Management Research. Dr. Alazaizeh also serves as a member of the Cultural Heritage Committee – ASOR (American Society of Overseas Research) and the Coordinator for UNIMED SubNetwork on Mediterranean Tourism.
