Filareti Kotsi, Professor

Dr. Filareti Kotsi, a recipient of several recognition awards, is a Professor and the Graduate Programs Coordinator at the College of Communication and Media Sciences at the Dubai campus at Zayed University in the United Arab Emirates. Dr. Filareti’s research addresses topics of destination image and attractiveness that vary according to the travel context of destinations- whether medical, cultural, religious, educational. Dr. Filareti and her research team have been responsible for establishing the field of stopover research in 2016. Her leadership of multidisciplinary teams has resulted in more than 60 published peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings (e.g., Tourism Management, Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing, Journal of Destination Marketing and Management, Current Issues in Tourism, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, Tourism Management Perspectives). She is frequently delivering scholarly presentations at leading international conferences. Dr. Filareti was awarded her Ph.D. at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (France), her Master’s and Bachelor’s at the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium), and her second Bachelor’s degree at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece). Outside of work, Dr. Filareti is engaged in international humanitarian work. She also enjoys the art of photography and is preparing for her first exhibition. She is currently training to participate in an open water event at the FINA World Masters Championships 2022 in Japan.
