Badran Badran, Professor

Badran A. Badran, Ph.D., His academic administrative experience at ZU includes serving as Assistant Provost, Executive Assistant to the Vice President, Consultant and Acting Director of the Community Relations Department, CCMS Associate Dean, CCMS Assistant Dean, and Accreditation Coordinator.  Before joining the CCMS faculty, he served as Chair of the Department of Mass Communication at UAE University. Dr. Badran has several scholarly publications and conference participations that cover Arab journalism, public relations, health and environmental communication, tourism promotion and other areas.

He has taught in several countries, both undergraduate and graduate courses, in journalism, public relations, research methods, strategic planning, tourism promotion, marketing communication, event management and others. In addition, he has supervised several M.A. theses. Dr. Badran has conducted workshops and trained media professionals and government employees in Jordan, UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Oman.

He has served as a judge at the Arab Media Awards, Al Owais Awards, Al Khaleej  Awards, the Middle East Events Awards and others.  Dr. Badran received his bachelor in arts degree in English from Kuwait University, his master of arts in journalism from Indiana University, in Bloomington, Indiana; and his doctorate in communication from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts. He also holds a Diploma in International Travel and Tourism from Oxford University. Dr. Badran also had post-doctoral studies and fellowships at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the U.S., Bochum University in Germany and Bournemouth University in the U.K.
