Dr. Azza A. Ahmed, Professor and Coordinator of Media in Arabic

Azza A. Ahmed, Ph.D is a full professor of Mass Communication at Dubai Campus of Zayed University since August 2018. She is the coordinator of the Arabic Media Courses. Prior to that she served as a full professor and coordinator of the College of Arts and Sciences at Abu Dhabi University 2011-2018. She worked as an associate professor at the United Arab Emirates University 2003-2011. She also keeps her position as a full professor in the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University in Egypt. 

Dr. Azza has many academic and administrative distinguished accomplishments. She established two Mass Communication Programs, in English and Arabic, for ADU. She received Khalifa Award for the Distinguished University Faculty in Teaching on Emirates and Arab World Levels for the academic year 2015-2016. In Addition, she got the distinguished Professor award from Abu Dhabi University in 2013. She organized various extra-curricular activities such as media exhibitions and students’ competitions to develop students’ media profession skills. She supervised many media campaigns serving UAE community. 

Moreover, she participated in many international refereed conferences in UK, USA, Bahrain, Singapore, Malaysia, China and Spain. She got four international research awards from Virginia, Georgia State Universities in USA, Morocco and Paris. She is an active member is many International Media associations such as the Arab-US Association for Communication Educators AUSACE in which she served as a vice president of the association until 2017. 

Dr. Azza was the Arabic editor of the Journal of Middle East Media 2005-2016. She currently serves as reviewer for journals such as Journalism & Mass Communication, Journal of New Media & Society; and conferences, such as AEJMC and ICA. Her research interest includes media effects, media ethics and new media usages and impacts. Her researches appeared in Cross-Cultural Communication Journal, the International E-Politics Journal (IGI), and International Journal of Interactive Communication System and Technologies (IJICT), International Journal of Media Watch (Scopus), and Contemporary Review of Middle East (Sage Pub.) among others.Furthermore, she delivered several workshops to senior journalists in Trayam Omran Center for Training and Development at Dar Al Khaleej in Emirates. She has many contributions in newspapers and TV programs in UAE. Dr. Azza received many appreciation and recognition awards form UAEU and ADU for her exceptional and excellent services to the university.

Prof. Azza received her master’s degree and two graduate diplomas from the American University in Cairo. She got her bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. from Cairo University, Egypt.
