Bio
Dr. Tibbs grew up in North Carolina and Tennessee in the United States. After serving in the US Navy, including a significant amount of time in the Persian Gulf and some time in UAE, Sam Tibbs worked in industrial setting prior to attending the University of Tennessee to earn his doctorate in finance. During his time at the University of Tennessee he also pursued his CFA Charter. Currently, Dr. Tibbs teaches in the MS in Finance program. He lives in Abu Dhabi with his wife and four kids. Dr. Tibbs enjoys spending time with his wonderful family, investing, and reading, (See below to learn more about his research.)

Research and Professional Activities
Main area of research is Corporate Crime, with additional research interest in Credit Ratings, and Treasury Stock. Research has been published in Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Empirical Legal Studies, and Journal of Applied Finance. In 2008 received the Charles H. Dow Best Paper Award from the Market Technicians Association.
