Bio

Konstantinos Syriopoulos (Costas Siriopoulos) is Professor of Finance at the College of Business, Zayed University, Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Economics (University of Piraeus, Greece), a Master degree in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics (University of Aix-Marseille, France), and a Ph.D. in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics (University of Aix-Marseille, France). His academic positions also include: Professor of Financial Econometrics, University of Patras, Department of Business Administration (Greece), Chairman of the Department of Business Administration and Member of the University Senate, University of Patras (Greece), Director of Graduate and Doctoral Studies of the Department of Business Administration at the University of Patras, Director of Master Program in “Banking and Risk Management”, at the Hellenic Open University, Assistant Professor of Statistics at University of Macedonia, Department of Economics (Greece), Visiting Professor of Financial Econometrics at the University of Montpellier I, Department of Economic Science (France). He was also served as Vice Executive Chairman of the Hellenic Finance and Accounting Association (HFAA).

His research interests include time series analysis, financial econometrics, market finance, risk analysis and banking regulation. His research has attracted an ANBAR (USA) citation of excellence, and a best paper prize from one of the leading research institutes, The Clute Institute for Academic Research (USA). His professional experience also includes: Director at the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (1997-2000), Chief Investment Manager in the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization Public Pension Fund (2000-2003, 1 billion euros under management), EU-Key Expert in Risk Management at the National Bank of Slovakia, Advisor to the Governor (2004-2005), Bank of Greece, Union Bank of Africa (Lagos, Nigeria, 2005-2006) etc.
