Bio
Dr. Zeitzmann joined Zayed University in January 2013 as an Assistant Professor of Management and Strategy in the College of Business. Prior to joining Zayed University, he studied in the Department of Management at the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech. He holds an M.B.A. from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College, Florida and a degree in business as Betriebswirt (WA) from a German business academy. During and in between his academic studies, he has worked for a diverse range of manufacturing companies.
In Germany, Dr. Zeitzmann also works as an advisor for small businesses and is engaged in entrepreneurial ventures. One of the involvements is with an internet start-up that specializes in personalized and DNA-based artwork. Previously, he worked or consulted in Germany, France, Italy, the U.S., and Mexico. Academically, Dr. Zeitzmann’s core area of research is located within the field of strategy at the intersection of innovation management and organizational economics. The focus of his dissertation work was on evolutionary and behavioral economics theory in regards to open innovation and broadcast search activities in the pharmaceutical industry. His research extends to social issues in management, international business, and research methodology.
During the times he resides in Germany and is not traveling, he serves his community as a volunteer fire fighter at the local fire department of his home town. He is a lifetime member of Beta Gamma Sigma since the completion of his M.B.A. and a current member of the Academy of Management and the Strategic Management Society.

Research and Professional Activities
Dr. Zeitzmann’s core research area is in innovation management from a strategic perspective with a focus on aspects of firm behavior and decision making theory based in organizational economics. Work he is currently involved in investigates innovation strategies of both incumbent corporations and entrepreneurial start-up companies, with some of this work addressing social issues. Other work relates to theories and practices of research methodologies used in management research.
