Bio
Gina Poncini, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Business Communication in the College of Business. She was most recently Associate Professor in the Department of Economics, Management and Quantitative Methods at the University of Milan, Italy, where she taught English Business Communication and Language in Politics to undergraduates and courses on research writing and public speaking to PhD students. She has also taught Organizational Communication in Its Social Context at New York University in Florence (Stern School of Business) and diverse courses at the University of Lugano, Switzerland, and other universities in Italy, Switzerland and the U.S. She has managerial experience in the international banking sector.
Gina Poncini’s work has appeared in books and journals, including Journal of Intercultural Studies, Business Communication Quarterly, Journal of Asian Pacific Communication, International Review of Applied Linguistics, and Design Principles and Practices: An International Journal. Her book Discursive Strategies in Multicultural Business Meetings (Peter Lang, 2004, 2007) received the Association for Business Communication 2005 Award for Distinguished Publication on Business Communication. She was awarded the 2013 Outstanding Researcher Award by the Association for Business Communication for her contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the discipline.

Research and Professional Activities
Gina Poncini’s research interests include international business communication, communication in multicultural professional settings; the role of discourse and communication in the agro-food, heritage, and tourism industries; ethnographic methods; and business ethics and communication in the financial services industry. Her most recent work focuses on female entrepreneurship, taking into consideration communication, culture and the local context. She is currently serving as 2nd Vice President and member of the Executive Committee of the Association for Business Communication (ABC).
