Bloomberg Global Trading Challenge 2024
Zayed University proudly celebrates the exceptional achievement of our finance student team, The Risky Rockets, in the 2024 Bloomberg Global Trading Challenge. Under the expert supervision and guidance of Dr. Ibrahim Bostan (College of Business), the team secured 1st place in the Middle East & Africa and 22nd place globally, competing against 2,453 teams from 396 universities across 46 countries.

"Major’s Day" was organized on both Zayed University campuses in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, where faculty and staff assisted hundreds of students in choosing their majors and, consequently, charting their future careers. The College of Business actively participated in the event on Wednesday, March 6th, 2024, at the Dubai Campus, Abu Dhabi Male and Mixed Campus, and on Thursday, March 7th, 2024, at the Abu Dhabi Female Campus.

Dr. Natasa Slak, an Associate Professor at COB, edited and published a book on social science of Socotra island. The book focuses on people indigenous to Socotra, Socotri cultures, heritage and also offers contributions from business, tourism, linguistic, communication, and anthropology. While a lot has been published in natural science about Socotra’s endemic species, biodiversity, and nature in general, social scientific research of the island is very limited. The book has been published by Springer Nature, who presents the book as »Uniquely the only book that will approach social science of Socotra Island. Discovers Socotra as an unknown island located in Yemen, probably one of the very few untouched places in the world (source: Springer Nature https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-981-99-4358-6 . Besides publishing the book, Dr. Slak travelled to Socotra with few other authors to present the book to Socotra community. The event was held at Socotra Archipelago University and resulted in an immense interest.

Africa, on the 22nd July 2022. The paper that Ghalia presented (online) was titled: ‘An exploration of the role of job seekers’ attitudes as an impediment to workforce nationalization in a GCC nation’.

"The youth are our country's most cherished asset" - this quote by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, reflects the UAE wise leadership’s belief in the potential of youth. Inspired by this wise vision, today I had the pleasure of meeting a group of ambitious Emirati youth as part of the Student Exchange Program launched by the Ministry of Economy in collaboration with a number of leading national universities. Through this program, we will work to develop the potentials of youngsters who are capable of understanding the variables of the economy and foreseeing its future. The program is a new opportunity to invest in Emirati youth and enable them to contribute to the economic growth and support the country's future vision for the next 50 years. Youth will remain the most important and the safest bet to invest in, in order to develop the present and build the future.

As a result, companies are at risk of falling behind or choosing inappropriate reports and ratings that don’t drive sustainability performance and open the door to accusations of greenwashing. This article introduces the sustainability reporting matrix, a tool that helps executives and sustainability managers to focus on the sustainability reporting standards and ratings that are most closely aligned with their strategic requirements and the information needs of their stakeholders.
