On April 18, 2019, the College of Business hosted The Fifth Forum for Research in Economics & Finance in the Convention Centre, Dubai. The forum was chaired by Dr. Rwan El-Khatib, Associate Professor of Finance and Al Dhaheri Chair in Islamic Finance and was co-organized with Professor Narjess Boubakri, Professor of Finance at the American University of Sharjah and Bank of Sharjah Chair in Banking and Finance, and Dr. Jocelyn Grira, Assistant Professor of Finance in United Arab Emirates University. The forum brought together academics in the fields of Finance and Economics from across more than 10 Universities in the UAE and overseas. There was significant international participation from Canada (University of Alberta) and France (Rennes School of Business and Paris School of Economics). The forum included 23 presentations highlighting topics that are of special interest to the UAE and the MENA region. Sessions included papers on: Capital Markets, Fund Management, and Pricing; Societal Trust, Family Business and Gender Diversity; Finance and Quality of Institutions; Immigration, Labor, and Human Capital; Happiness, Emiritisation and Mobility; and Economics of Sustainability.
