Miral Asset Management, a key developer and manager of assets on Yas Island, today launched the Yas Island Breakthrough Challenge - a competition for Zayed University students to generate ideas that shape the future of Yas Island as a global leisure and entertainment destination.

Miral, which is responsible for the promotion of Yas Island to global markets, as well as the development and management of the destination’s leisure and entertainment attractions, including Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld and Yas Marina, initiated the competition as part of its objective to envision the long-term direction of Yas Island and build life-long visitor value to the emirate.

As the first-of-its-kind collaboration in Abu Dhabi, the competition will take place over the first semester this year, and underscores the shared commitment of Miral and Zayed University to innovation, creativity, engaging local youth, and the future of Abu Dhabi.

"Our ambition for Yas Island is to create an experience unique to Abu Dhabi, which visitors cannot find anywhere else in the world" said Mohamed Abdulla Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral. "We always look to find new ways to unlock our vision for the future. The ‘Yas Island Breakthrough Challenge’ looks to tap into the inspiration of our young people and gives young local talent the opportunity to turn their ideas into reality and offers them a voice in the future of the emirate."

"We are very pleased to partner with Miral on this exciting initiative," said Professor Reyadh AlMehaideb, Vice President of Zayed University, "With the UAE government’s focus on innovation as a driving force of development and economic growth, this partnership will demonstrate the skills and creative capabilities our students have gained through their academic studies at Zayed University."
