As part of UAE Innovates 2025, the Finance Department at the College of Business of Zayed University, hosted on Tuesday the 18^th of February, an exciting and insightful presentation to the ZU Community, delivered by Assistant Director of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) within the Central Bank of UAE (CBUAE) Emerging Tech Department, Mr. Andrew Turner, who is leading the CBUAE’s ground breaking CBDC programme, the Digital Dirham. In his presentation, Mr. Andrew highlighted the UAE’s role in pioneering digital currencies in the MENA region, providing the audience with an overview of the Digital Dirham initiative, its potential benefits, challenges, and implications, explaining the different types of digital currencies, and the unique features and aspects of the Digital Dirham. The presentation ended with a Q&A session, and students from both Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses, expressed their enthusiasm about what they learnt in this presentation and engaged with some sharp questions!
