Bio

Perihan Iren is Associate Professor of Finance at Zayed University. Prior to joining to Zayed University, she has taught several courses in finance at Cleveland State University, US. She earned her Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Finance from Cleveland State University in 2010. She also holds B.Sc. in Business Administration and M.Sc. in Accounting and Finance degrees from Hacettepe University, Turkey.

Perihan has published research on a wide range of financial issues including banking sector stability, corporate governance issues and international finance. She is particularly interested in crisis literature. She also conducts interdisciplinary research, particularly in innovation area. Her work has been published in well reputable international journals such as European Journal of Finance, Journal of Asian Economics, Personnel Review and International Journal of Innovation Management and presented at the annual meetings of FMA and SWFA. She is currently working on projects related to innovation, investor sentiment and crypto markets.

She has taught courses such as Financial Management, Investments, Islamic Finance, Commercial Banking, Financial Markets and Financial Institutions Management at undergraduate and graduate levels. She has supervised several undergraduate and master theses. She is also a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy. 

Perihan loves working closely with her students. She is the founder and academic advisor of the Zayed University Finance Club. She has organized several events and trips for the club, including a Bloomberg student roundtable and an educational visit to University of Loyola, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and University of Chicago.
