Bio

Jeremy Williams joined Zayed University in January 2020. A PhD economist with more than 30 years of experience in higher education, Professor Williams has broad international exposure having lived and worked in the UK, Australia, Singapore, France, India and UAE. He has held senior executive level positions in both university and corporate sectors, and has published three textbooks, more than 40 peer-reviewed papers, and over 50 other articles and papers (ResearchGate/ Google Scholar).

Specialising in the economics of sustainability, Jeremy has taught courses at graduate and undergraduate level in ecological economics, environmental economics, sustainable development, sustainability literacy, the management of sustainable enterprise, sustainable cities and regional development, environmental management, measuring and assessing sustainability, social impact investment, and social entrepreneurship. These courses he has delivered on campus and online in numerous universities and business schools around the world including, among others, QUT and Griffith University in Australia, NEOMA Business School in France, Otto von Guericke University in Germany, and Modul University in Dubai.  He has also worked with a number of companies around the world to improve their understanding of sustainability issues through executive education.

Research and Professional Activities

In addition to his disciplinary interest in ecological economics, Professor Williams is an education futurist, and is frequently called upon to present keynote speeches at international conferences and webinars on the subject. He is noted for his expertise in digital pedagogies, authentic assessment design, and his advocacy of open educational resources (OER). He has published widely in this area, his main research focus being authentic learning environments and the ways in which learning experiences might be better contextualised to promote greater student engagement and deeper learning.
