Bio

Efstathios (Stathis) Polyzos is Assistant Professor of Finance in the College of Business.  He holds a Ph.D. (2019) in Finance from the University of the Aegean.  He studied Economics at the University of Warwick (B.Sc., 2001) and Banking and Finance at the Open University of Cyprus (M.A., 2014).  Additionally, he holds an M.Sc. (2007) in Computer Science from Staffordshire University.  He has worked for many years in the banking sector, as a Corporate Loans Officer in the National Bank of Greece.  He was also a freelance consultant and researcher, participating in various FinTech academic and business projects and has extensive experience as a software engineer for various private companies.

His major fields of interest are agent-based financial simulations, banking crises, banking regulation, financial stability, financial crises, financial machine learning and econometric modelling.  He has published papers in notable journals, including the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, International Review of Financial Analysis, Economics Letters, Economic Modelling and Annals of Tourism Research.
