Bio
Umar R Butt joined Zayed University in August 2012 as an Assistant Professor after completing his doctoral degree in finance from McMaster University. Dr. Butt offers a diverse experience with teaching assignment spread across USA, Canada and Pakistan over a period of nine years. His research interests include corporate governance, fixed income securities and covenant violations. His contributions to the field of finance have been acknowledged in the form of been awarded the “Best Paper of the conference” at CGBC, Boston and “Outstanding Paper by a Doctoral Student in Corporate Finance” at the Southwest Finance Association 2012, New Orleans. Since graduation he has been actively involved in empirical research and has presented, discussed and refereed papers at conferences such as NFA and ASAC. Besides academic research interests, Dr. Butt has also been involved in industry research and has worked as a consultant.
