Bio

Madhumita Banerjee is Associate Professor of Marketing in the College of Business. Her research interests lie in the areas of consumption experiences, identity and consumption, status consumption for luxury goods and services, consumption in emerging markets, and service design and delivery in multi-channel settings. She examines these issues from the organization and consumer perspectives to draw out meaningful insights for academic theory building and relevance to marketing practice.

Prior to academia, Madhumita had a corporate career in professional services in design, international business and marketing research. She continues to actively engage with businesses and brands through outreach activities for research and pedagogy. Before joining Zayed University, Madhumita held faculty positions at the American University of Sharjah (UAE), University of Warwick and University of Essex (UK). She has been visiting faculty at the American University of Sharjah (UAE), Aalto University (Finland) and the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) (India). She also held invited research fellow positions at the University of Strathclyde (UK) and at the Institute on Asian Consumer Insight, Nanyang Technological University, (Singapore). She has taught a wide range of Marketing courses at the Undergraduate, Specialist Masters, MBA, EMBA and Executive Education levels and served as the Program Director for MSc International Marketing and Entrepreneurship at University of Essex.


She has published in world leading and internationally excellent, peer-reviewed academic journals, including the Journal of Service Research, Journal of Business Research, Marketing Letters, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, and others. She has co-authored a textbook on Global Marketing (Pearson Education), contributed chapters to edited books, case studies and her research on luxury in Asian markets has been featured in the Luxury Society, luxuryfacts.com, and The Bangkok Post, among others. She is a recipient of internal and external competitive research grants as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator.

Madhumita is a Fellow of Advance HE in the UK. She is on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Service Theory and Practice and a reviewer for top-tier journals, leading academic conferences and research grant institutions.
