Bio
Claire recently joined Zayed University’s College of Business Sciences after completing her PhD in 2010 at the University of Adelaide, Australia. An enthusiastic lecturer, Claire has taught such courses as marketing communications, marketing ethics, consumer behavior, marketing management and business finance at the graduate and undergraduate levels. With interests in psychology and media studies, Claire integrates cross disciplinary knowledge into her course material to provide a broader perspective. She also encourages students to relate the decisions marketers make to society’s broader wellbeing. This ensures students understand both the effect they may have and the contribution they can make not just to the individual organization employing them but society as a whole.
Her most recent research focuses on the merging of media content and marketing communications, examining brand integration (product placement) within television from both an industry and audience perspective. She has also published research on print advertising effects, branded entertainment and effectively communicating with young adults, undertaking both qualitative and experimental research within these fields. As a part of her role at the University of Adelaide, Claire also consulted on industry research projects in the fields of youth culture, insurance, banking and financial advice and prior to academia worked in the public sector, banking and brokerage industries.
