Bio

Zena Adhami is currently an Assistant Professor in Graphic Design at Zayed University Dubai Campus, UAE. She earned an MFA in Design from the California College of the Arts (CCA) in San Francisco, USA in 2012, and B.S in Multimedia Design From the American University of Sharjah (AUS) in 2006. Born and raised in the UAE, She started her career developing one of the Middle East key publications: BrownBook. She was also commissioned to work on several projects for Sharjah Government.

Upon obtaining her MFA, she taught design at the American University in Madaba, Jordan, University of Sharjah and The American University of Sharjah before joining Zayed University. Her courses usually range of identity systems, typography, publication design and design principles. In addition to her work as an educator, Zena continues to maintain a professional practice in Dubai and Sharjah. She was also commissioned to develop supergraphics works for the city of Sharjah, in addition to other murals around the UAE.

Her research investigates social meaning through exploring the meaning of place, space and highlights narratives through urban experiences using communication design as a medium. Her work contributed to various exhibitions; to name a few, Dubai Design week, Graphic Design Festival in Lucerne and recently Art Dubai.
