Bio
Sarah Ayoub Agha is Syrian Painter, originally from Damascus/ Syria, but was raised and currently based in Abu Dhabi/UAE.
Sarah is currently working as a Adjunct Instructor at Zayed University / College of Arts and Creative Enterprises/United Arab Emirates, she graduated in 2006 with a BFA in Painting. She later got her MA degree in Painting from the Fine Arts Department of London Metropolitan University in 2010.
In her figurative paintings, Sarah investigates several aspects of being woman living in the Middle East, starting from the effect media has on her, moving forward to complexes in relationships and documenting her present. She’s currently settled on questioning Motherhood from a first hand experience.
Highlighting her accomplishments throughout her practice, Sarah Won the First Prize Fine Arts Category in the first edition of The Sheikha Manal Young Artist Award 2007. She was also chosen by one of the lead art critics Anna Finel Honigman as the Saatchi Online Critic’s Choice in 2010 on Saatchi Online. Her work was included in several prestigious events locally and internationally like Istanbul Biennial in 2005, and Frieze Art Fair in 2009. She also was privileged to have her work included in the pre-auction exhibition by Christie’s in 2007in Dubai/UAE.
