Bio
Dr. Moya Goosen is an Assistant Professor of Art History at Zayed University's College of Arts and Creative Enterprises, bringing over a decade of expertise in higher education. Before joining Zayed University in 2021, she served at the North-West University in South Africa for ten years, where she took on significant leadership roles.
At CACE, she teaches undergraduate courses in art history. Her specialised knowledge in contemporary art, postcolonial theory, and visual culture informs her student-centred approach to program development and curriculum design, creating engaging learning environments that foster critical thinking.
Dr. Goosen's research focuses on contemporary art and discourse, with emphasis on postcolonial theory, identity formation, and visual narratives. Her doctoral work examined how colonial stereotypes and whiteness narratives are reproduced in contemporary South African photography. She has published in accredited journals on themes of identity, diaspora, and liminality in contemporary art. Her curatorial experience includes judging for the prestigious Helgaard Steyn Award and working with the Aardklop National Arts Festival.
