Bio

Matthew Conboy is Assistant Professor of Multimedia at Zayed University, UAE. Matthew is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work focuses on movement, place, and identity. He is currently documenting an abandoned building site in Changsha, China and other recent projects include a conceptual portrait project in Beijing, photographing the Mean Centers of Population that are plotted at the conclusion of every US Census, and transcribing the footsteps of Jackson Pollock while action painting. He has presented his work in a number of exhibitions at venues including International Center of Photography (New York, NY), CICA Museum (Seoul, South Korea), Mattress Factory (Pittsburgh, PA), Pantocrator Gallery (Suzhou, China), and Silver Eye Center for Photography (Pittsburgh, PA). Matthew has received numerous grants and awards from the S. Kent Rockwell Foundation, Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, The Heinz Endowments, Epson, Society for Photographic Education, Crusade for Art, and Silver Eye Center for Photography.
