Maruan Halabi - Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Abu Dhabi
Bio
Dr. Maruan Halabi is an Associate Professor at the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises at Zayed University since 2021. He earned his PhD in Architecture and Technology in 2008 from the Superior School of Architecture of Barcelona, with a dissertation titled "The Beginnings of CAM Technology in Architecture: The Sagrada Familia."
In addition to his original field of research focused on advanced design and digital fabrication, Dr. Halabi currently concentrates on the integration of artificial intelligence in design, 3D modeling, and coding, with a particular emphasis on its applications in digital fabrication technologies. He has published extensively in these areas and is an active participant in scientific committees for renowned international conferences on advanced design and digital fabrication.
With over two decades of experience, Dr. Halabi has contributed significantly to advanced computational design and digital fabrication across Spain, France, Lebanon, and the UAE. His professional experience includes consulting for landmark projects such as the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, designed by Antoni Gaudi, and the H2O Pavilion in Zaragoza by Zaha Hadid.
In addition to his academic roles over the years, Dr. Halabi has held various administrative positions at the faculty level, gaining valuable experience in academic leadership. He also serves as an academic consultant for architectural programs and is the head of the digital fabrication department at Sequence Contracting in Abu Dhabi.
