Katarzyna Tracz
Katarzyna Tracz completed her Master in Architecture and Urban Design at Cracow University of Technology, Poland, in 2002. She completed her Professional studies in Architecture at The Chamber of Architects - Poland in 2006 and at the University College London - UK in 2011. She also has a postgraduate degree in Project Management from Warsaw University of Technology.
Bio

Kasia is a qualified Architect and Assistant Professor at Zayed University’s College of Arts and Creative Enterprises, Abu Dhabi campus in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
She is a member of the Architectural Registration Board (ARB) in the UK and Małopolska Okręgowa Izba Architektów (MPOIA) in Poland.
Before joining academia in 2018, she worked with renowned architecture practices like Zaha Hadid Architects and Foster + Partners on notable projects such as the London Olympic Aquatic Center, Bank of Iraq and Kuwait International Airport. Her global experience includes PRP Architects, UK, Ingarden & Ewy Architects and Schwitzke Górski, Poland, Aedas and TKDP, UAE.
Kasia is also an artist, designer, and ceramist. She has an independent design atelier with a jewelry line, ceramic artifacts, and installations inspired by the Middle East’s marine environment. Her work has been exhibited in the UK, Poland, and the UAE.

In her professional practice, she has worked on community-based projects, liaising with government planning authorities and stakeholders, focusing on the regeneration of the housing estates, reactivation of the precinct and development framework for planning applications.
In 2008 she joined Zaha Hadid Architects, London and was part of the core design team of the London Olympic Aquatic Center, from the project concept stage until its construction. Building on her expertise, the project also investigated the regeneration of the post-industrial area of Stratford, East London, to create the 2012 Olympic Village. Other prominent projects include Bloomberg Headquarters in London, and Kuwait International Airport with Foster + Partners, a countryside boutique retreat project in China with Ingarden & Ewy Architects, Zero 6 Sharjah shopping mall for Schwitzke Górski Architecture. In 2017 Kasia joined Aedas, Dubai, as an Associate, where she took on a leading role in the project management of a high-density mixed-use development in the region.

Kasia joined academia in 2018 as an Adjunct Professor at the D6 Architecture programme, School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society, Heriot- Watt University, Dubai Campus. She taught architectural design studio to preliminary years of the undergraduate BA Architecture program.
She joined CACE Zayed University Abu Dhabi in 2021 and taught in the Interior Design Program. Courses taught by Kasia varied from Design Studios I, II, III and IV, Drawing for Designers, Color and Light Design to Professional Practice, and add up to the overall nine different courses.

Her extensive experience in practice and industry linkage is a core competency that she brings to the design studio. Her teaching philosophy resonates with her professional practice experience and her hands-on community-based approach to the class. She also believes in the power of individual points of view and aims to create an environment in which all students can express their uniqueness and thrive.
