Bio
Kara McKeown is from the UK. She has been at ZU since 2009 and in the UAE since 2004. She teaches across a range of Art History courses. She has a particular interest in developing student’s language skills within their chosen specialization and in the interface between language teaching pedagogy and the teaching of art and design and has published a number of journal articles in this area. Her other research interests are connected to the oral history of the UAE. Currently, she is embarking on a project researching the early years of Zayed University through a series or oral history interviews with the first faculty, staff and students combined with research in the ZU archives. She also has an ongoing project researching Jewelry in the MENA region and specifically Jewelry as an indicator of social change in UAE society.
