Bio

Hana El-Sagini is an Egyptian multidisciplinary visual artist born in Cairo in 1980.

From childhood, Hana was brought up as a painter by her late father artist Magd El-Sagini in a home immersed with art by many generations of artists in her family. 

But it was not before 13 years since graduation from Faculty of Economics in 2001, that she exclusively pursued her art career after a compelling career in multinational organizations in both Cairo and Dubai, which she bid goodbye in 2014 to join Metafora Academy of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, then, returning home in 2015 to establish her own Art School in Cairo for young talents.

In 2018, Hana held her debut solo show “Moments” at Zamalek Art Gallery, Cairo, then participated in “Something else Off Biennale” Cairo, 2018, same year when she was awarded The Dean Collection Award (USA) . 

In 2020, after moving to Düsseldorf, she got accepted for the artists program provided by the “Universität Der Künst Berlin, UDK” which led her to be part of the unique women collective “Hexa” , whom she exhibited with in 2021 UDK Rundgang among other shows. 

In 2021 Hana moved to Switzerland after receiving an Master in Fine Arts scholarship from Institute Kunst in Basel, where she concluded her studies in 2022. In the same year, Hana was invited by the Fondation Beyeler to create the floor scenography for Friday Beyeler  «I Hear a New World – 14 Miaows of the Future» for their 25th Anniversary with performances happening for 14 Friday nights all curated by Chus Martinez. 

In 2023, Hana’s work “The Big Blue Slippers” was acquired by Fenix Museum, Rotterdam, Netherlands as part of their permanent collection.

Also in 2023,  Hana was selected to be part of Campus Art Dubai 10.0 X Public Art group, same year were she was also selected by “421” Institution in Abu Dhabi for the Artistic Development Program through which she was commissioned a major body of work that she exhibited in her solo show “Counting Fingers” in 2024. 

In 2025, Hana will start the prestigious “Teaching Artist Fellowship” residency program provided by Manarat Al Saadiyat, ADCT, Abu Dahbi.

Hana currently lives and works in Dubai.
