Bio
Elke Dorner is an Assistant Professor of Art History at the College of Arts & Creative Enterprises at the Abu Dhabi campus of Zayed University.
She received her PhD and Magister Artium (BA & MA) in Art History from the Free University of Berlin, Germany. Her research interests span contemporary architecture and architectural heritage. She wrote a PhD thesis on contemporary buildings as examples of “architecture parlante”. She organised and curated major architectural exhibitions such as “City of Architecture – Architecture of the City. Berlin 1900-2000” at the Museumsinsel Berlin and “Berlin: Open City”, arranged by the Berliner Festspiele.
Elke taught introductory courses in architectural history as an Adjunct Faculty at the University of Film and Television Potsdam and at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam. She trained students at the First Uzbek-German Summer School for the Preservation of Islamic Monuments, a cooperation project of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam and the Universities of Tashkent and Samarkand, Uzbekistan (http://summerschool-usbekistan.fh-potsdam.de). She was a Research Assistant at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam where she developed a M.Sc. by Research programme for the Faculties of Civil Engineering and Architecture.
