Elisabeth Stoney
Bio
Dr Elisabeth Stoney is Assistant Professor of Art History and Curatorial Studies at Zayed University, Abu Dhabi.
Dr Stoney held university posts lecturing in cinema studies at Monash University and La Trobe University (both in Melbourne, Australia) for more than ten years. Between 2007 and 2011 she led the cultural studies program in the College of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Sharjah (UAE). She has held numerous positions with museums, arts organizations and enterprises in Europe, Australia and the Gulf. She was co-editor of the first photographic study of cultural heritage in Kosovo, Historical and Cultural Monuments–Peja (2006) and has published worldwide on photography, film, art history and visual culture.
Dr Stoney holds a PhD in Art History (University of Melbourne) with a dissertation on the history of photography, a MA Preliminary in Art History (La Trobe University) and a BA from Monash University. She is specialist in the history of photography, visual and digital culture, and contemporary art. Dr Stoney is presently engaged in a study of Italian photography of the 1980s.
Dr Stoney is based in Rome and Amsterdam.
