Bio

David has 25+ years of experience, both working in industry for large Award-Wining Design Agencies within the UK and working as Managing Director within his own successful company,

Currently Associate Dean and Associate Professor in Graphic Design at the College of Arts & Creative Enterprises at Zayed University (Abu Dhabi).

As a passionate creative designer, David's objectives have always been to excel in what he love's the most - good design!

His goal has always been to bring his experience within the design industry full circle and to pass his experience to others through higher education. David has a keen interest in all design related issues with a passion for Land art and natural/urban decay.

He was the inaugural Chair member of the Committee on Design for CAA (College Arts Association) and is the external reviewer for University College Bahrain and Bahrain Polytechnic.

His research interests tend to focus on the environment, the evolution of man and his material wealth, the development of bigger and bigger cities, more and more people, pollution and industry of our planet and the consequences this has on nature.

Most recently David has introduced a letterpress machine into the University and is now looking at new ways to create Latin and Arabic typography through traditional and latest technologies. This has also created a new series of works between student and faculty collaborations which has been exhibited within the UAE.

Teaching Areas

Graphic Design.

Specialist teaching areas include: layout and publication design, visual identity and icon design, branding, typography, letterpress, packaging design, design research and history, as well as professional practices, ethics in design and design thinking.
