Bio
Walter Willems is a Dutch artist, curator and entrepreneur who has been working in the arts & entertainment industry for over 20 years. Willems has implemented arts and culture programming at the Toronto Zoo (Canada), managed large-scale interactive public sculptures, curated outdoor and site-specific photography exhibitions, is the co-founder of an art awards event honouring excellence in art production, curating, exhibition design and art criticism, and has staged participatory photo projects internationally.
Willems co-founded ArtBarrage, a digital media and art consulting company, specialized in marketing contemporary art, residential and corporate art consulting, artist career advice, grant writing, artwork documentation and the production of high-end limited edition art prints.
Before moving to the U.A.E. and joining Zayed University, Willems was the co-director of a commercial gallery in Toronto, Canada, representing established, mid-career and emerging contemporary artists from Europe and North America.
As an artist, Willems has exhibited internationally and has worked/collaborated with artists and art institutions in Europe, North and South America and the U.A.E. His work can be found in private and corporate collections in Europe and North America
