Bio

Francesca Sorcinelli is a Registered Architect at the Italian Order of Architects (OAPPCTV-n.1973) and Assistant Professor at College of Arts and Creative Enterprises at Zayed University, Dubai. She holds a Master Degree in Architecture (MArch) from IUAV University of Venice, Italy. Before joining ZU she taught architecture studio and theory classes at Canadian University Dubai and University of Udine (Italy). She is author of research papers and articles related to social housing and migration, as well as the relationship between building typologies and sustainability in architecture within urban retrofitting. Francesca has been co-founder of Donner Sorcinelli Architecture, a design office based in Italy, dedicated to create innovative and affordable architecture. Her designs have been awarded in international competitions in Korea, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Canada, Finland and extensively published in many architecture magazines and books. Her works were exhibited worldwide including “100 Architects of year 2017” held by UIA/KIA (Korea), 9th International Architecture Exhibition “Metamorph” at Biennale di Venezia, The Architecture Foundation London, Van Alen Institute of New York and 24th UIA Tokyo Congress. She has been acknowledged with several International Awards including the first prizes at “Cityscape Architectural Review Award”, “SAIE Selection Awards” as well as an Acknowledgement Prize at “Holcim Awards” (Africa and Middle-East Region).
